What you need for a session
Regular tap water and salt — we recommend 3/4 of a tablespoon of common table salt. Use only a plastic or rubber container, never a metal tub (the footbath works by electrolysis). The Footbath Tub and Footbath Heater/Timer complete the setup, and both come standard in every TrueRife package.
How it's built
The two internal plates are medical-grade 316 stainless steel — the same chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy used in surgical instruments, chosen for its resistance to corrosion in salt water. The module has a typical lifespan of about 40 to 100 hours of sessions.
Make your Ion Pro Wave last: the 10-second habit
After each session, rinse the Ion Pro Wave under running water for 5 to 10 seconds. Salt left on the plates speeds up corrosion — rinsing after every use is the single best way to extend plate life and get the most sessions from your module.
About the water color
The water color reflects the interaction between the water and the module, not anything being removed from the body, and it varies with the program, the mineral content of the water, the salt, and the lifespan of the plates. Local water quality matters more than most people expect: tap water varies from state to state and town to town, and water with higher mineral content is more conductive — so the same program can produce noticeably different water color in different parts of the country. A new module also typically runs lighter, with color deepening as the plates age. Heavy sludge is a sign the plates are wearing faster — not a sign of a stronger session.
